Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
Born
1840
Transfiguration Teacher 1940
Hogwarts Headmaster 1970 - present
During the first rise to power of Voldemort, in the 1970s, Dumbledore
established the Order of the Phoenix to fight against the Dark
Lord. When he heard from Harry that Voldemort had returned, Dumbledore
revived the Order.
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is widely considered to
be the greatest wizard of the current age. Dumbledore is currently
the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
He is famous for defeating the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945,
for discovering the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and for his
work on alchemy with his friend Nicolas Flamel.
Dumbledore is Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot and Chairman of
the International Confederation of Wizards.
Dumbledore was offered the post of Minister of Magic c.1990 (SS5,
OP10) but turned it down, so Fudge took that position. For the
first few years after this, Fudge sent daily owls to Dumbledore
asking his advice.
Dumbledore is the one wizard whom Voldemort fears. His presence
at Hogwarts made the school a safe haven during the 1970s; Voldemort
never tried to take the school. Dumbledore worked tirelessly to
defeat Voldemort during those terrible years, forming a group
called The Order of the Phoenix who battled the Death Eaters.
Now that Voldemort has risen again, Dumbledore has recalled the
Order to fight the Dark Lord.
